An Antique Empire Farm Table

I picked this goooorgeous table up at the July Brimfield flea market for $45. That's more than I like to spend on furniture, but I found this piece utterly irresistible, and knew I would be keeping it for myself. look at those legs. The piece is American Empire and probably dates to about 1850 or so. There was a big hole in the drawer, which I patched, and other wise it was in nice condition. The surface was an ugly tacky red, but I painted the base is Benjamin Moore's Sweet Pea, and did the top in pine boards with a mix of pickled oak and dark walnut stain, then poly. I had just the spot for it in my kitchen after re-arranging and removing the Christmas tree. I also added the antique yellow cupboard above it. I picked that gem up at a tagsale a few months ago. I hope you have a happy New Year full of fresh starts!

  1. WOW!

This table is stunning. I love how you redid the surfaces. If you decide to give it up, I most certainly could find a place or four in my apartment. Thanks for sharing.

    Happy New Year
