A Pine Dresser in Slate Blue

Thus far slate blue has been hands down the color of 2016. This morning I had to wash all my paint brushes. Something like six of them were in different shades of slate. And I love slate, so you won't find me complaining. Here's the first of many slate blue projects I'll be sharing with you this week.

This is a modern dresser; I'd be surprised if it's even five years old, but goodness is it well built. I'm such a snob about antique vs. modern furniture so I was very very pleasantly surprised with the quality of this piece. The only thing that's not solid pine on it is the backboard. The drawers work perfectly, and it's nice and sturdy. A client approached me to give the piece a new look. She opted to keep the top as is, which it's flawless so that makes sense. I painted the case in a custom slate blue to match the inspiration picture she sent me. After hunting around a bit I also found some drawer pulls from Lowe's, burnished copper drop ring pulls, that capture the feel of the hardware on the inspiration piece. Finally, there was an attached mirror that I did to match. Just a quick easy update to give the piece a whole new and sophisticated look!
