Antique Dresser Turned Kitchen Island

Oh I had a spot for this antique dresser. I'm doing a little spring re-arranging in the house and I had just the spot directly opposite my new antique secretary. I wanted a bright mint green to balance the darkness of the original walnut surface of the secretary. I had this all planned out, I even sanded down, stained, and sealed the original top with thumb molded edge. AND THEN, when I started painting it, I saw really and truly how wonderful the back of this dresser is. It's fabulous tongue and groove pine. This dresser is probably about 150 years old, and my goodness, that pine is still perfect. So perfect, too perfect to be a dresser anymore, with that back invisible and thus wasted for another hundred years. I knew then and there that this needed to be a kitchen island. I added a pine top, removed the drawers that were finicky anyway, and replaced the drawer pulls on the top two drawers. I have no need for a kitchen island, as I already have a giant one, so someone needs to give this piece a home!
