Green is my favorite color. Kitchen Islands are my favorite category of furniture. Needless to say, I had a lot of fun with this custom project. The piece started as a Classical period (c.1860) scroll front sideboard. I added casters and new hardware in a nickel finish. The top is barn board supported in the back with an antique wrought iron shelf support. The paint is a custom color that I mixed myself, though the starting base was Benjamin Moore's Richmond Green. Under the deeper green is a lighter green, which I did intentionally to create depth when distressing it at the end.
Before and afters below!

ReplyDeletethis is a great idea. I have been on a quest for a kitchen island and finally found a perfect one, but if I hadn't found that one I would so try to find a similar piece and copy yours completely.
