Maple sideboard before and after

I picked this maple dresser up a couple weeks ago at the flea market. It probably dates to about 1930. So much character and it's solid maple. I painted it an antique white to brighten it up, and added an antique barn board top. It's now a fabulous sideboard, though it's a pretty multi-functional piece and would also be great as a tv console or dresser. Before and after pictures below!

My husband found these great side tables for me to work on. They've got great lines and such a designer look. The marble tops make them so durable and I love the drawer pulls. They just need a little freshening up. Before and afters below!

A Productive Weekend

Good Morning! So sorry for the two days without a post. I worked all day Saturday and Sunday, and in my free moments I was working on furniture. Despite being crazy busy I did manage to get some great furniture and decor accessories over the weekend.
As you know because I've been grousing about it non-stop, I couldn't go to the town wide tagsale on Saturday as I had to work. Luckily, my husband is Ah-mazing and went around to the tagsales shopping on my behalf. He's a good guy. He got me a cute little maple side chair and this awesome pine sideboard. I also managed to stop at a tagsale before I had to be at work at 8am on Saturday. They were just setting up and I saw them carrying this stunning little solid oak antique chest of drawers out onto the lawn. I literally did a u-turn, jogged over in my heels, and bought it on the spot. I'm keeping it. It's so tiny and sweet.
On Saturday evening when I finished work I got another cute dresser.
On Sunday morning I hit up the flea market and two tagsales before work- both also very lucrative.
 So now I've got dressers and dining sets coming out my ears- plus two potential sideboards. If any of you are looking for a custom piece- don't hesitate to reach out to me. I'm always happy to do custom work and its usually the same cost as the piece would be anyway.
The flea market yesterday morning was the biggest I've ever seen there. It was lots and lots of fun, but  didn't go too hog wild- managed to get some cool pieces, but didn't buy anything I didn't need either. Here are the pics below, and they will be added to the 'inventory' page as well.

This is one the husband picked up for me on Saturday. Perhaps hard to see now- but this is going to be a fabulous sideboard. New drawer pulls, sleek black paint, a barn board top, trust me. And nice spot, husband, I would have bought it too1

Solid rock maple dresser, I think I'll paint the case white, do the top in a nice light stain to really showcase the wood.

I picked this dresser up on my way home from work. The husband had the truck but I was determined to get it home. Luckily, the tagsale was just up the street from us, and I was able to make it home. 

This is actually pretty old. Looking at the backboards and everything I think its from about 1930. All solid pine and maple. I'd like to do this in a really funky avant garde finish- if anyone's interested. 

Obviously those drawer pulls are heinous, but its so crazy and interesting looking. Really fun.

I got this mid-19th century dining table at the flea market. It's structurally in great shape, and I'm just going to re-do the top and probably paint the legs. It would be perfect for a small dining room or eat-in kitchen in an antique home.

This awesome bag was free at one of the tagsales I went to. I love the light leather with the navy blue. It'll be great for day trips and maybe even the flea market.

I got this industrial rolling cart at the flea market yesterday for $5. I'm going to refinish (as you can see I've already started) and turn it into a bar cart. I adore those industrial rolling carts, and this one stopped me dead in my tracks. It's got great wheels.

New Acquisitions!

This morning was a very good morning. Just by chance I happened to drive by the Lion's Club tag sale in Hebron. Boy am I glad I stopped. I got a great solid pine vintage dining set, another fabulous set of four antique solid walnut chairs, and a solid oak butcher block pedestal dining table. I also got an awesome mid century modern coffee table that I'm going to refinish and put in our music studio. Everything but the coffee table is available to be refinished custom. I was thinking for this set it would be cool to paint the chairs a swedish white and then sand the top and stain it in an almost natural wood tone. It would look Swedish and Nautical and so cool. I could also do the chairs and table legs in black, the top in a dark rich stain. There's only four chairs shown but there's actually six that come with the set. The other two wouldn't fit in my truck so they're being delivered this afternoon.

Look at those gorgeous turned legs. 

I know it looks a little funky now but you have to see beyond the wear. It's solid oak butcher block and once I'm done with it, it will be beautiful and fresh and modern.

These are solid walnut- I've never seen a set that wasn't veneer before. They probably date to about 1900-1920. I think they'd look great painted with reupholstered seats. I'll sell them with the pedestal table or separate.

Remember that dresser I showed you a while back "deconstructed rustic"? Though I loved it, it was just too beat up to come upstairs from the workshop. I gave it just a bit of a touch up, but tried to preserve the integrity and personality of the piece. I used a similar mint green paint with a matte surface to give it a chalky feel. I also replaced the drawer pulls. The ones that were on it weren't original and were ugly as sin. I think it turned out pretty cute and is the perfect addition to my summer decor on the sun porch. Before and after pictures of the dresser and pics of the sunporch below. The weather has finally warmed up here in Connecticut and it's feeling a lot more summery up here now!

Before- and it makes me sad that I had to cover the cool old surface, but the piece also needed some structural work to make it functional.

One of my favorite colors- Benjamin Moore's iced mint. I used wooden round drawer pulls because I suspect that's what it had originally.

I got this cute little vintage step stool at a tag sale two weeks ago. Forgot to put up pics of it. I think it probably dates to the 30s. You know I just can't resist old green paint. I think it was $10.

Here's the front porch, though I still want to make a few tweaks. I'd like to find two cool pieces of art to put on either side of the window.

That whale is a favorite of mine. I really splurged on it at the flea market last year- I think $80 or something crazy like that. It's made of old barn board, but probably isn't an antique. I just thought the form and size was sooooo charming.
