A Sweet Pine Cupboard

This was a custom commission for a client. Her husband built this adorable pine cupboard about twenty five years ago, and he did a nice job! It was dark stained, and needed a little brightening up, though. We went with a warm cream- Benjamin Moore's Pale Almond, on the exterior, and for a little splash of fun we went with Toronto Blue on the interior and inside the drawers. I also added a pine shelf for additional storage. The hardware is original to the piece. I distressed the exterior and finished it with a clear wax.

Cottage Pine Dresser

This is just a wee bit of cheat. I did this dresser in August, and photographed and blogged about it then. I refinished it for myself- hence that absolutely stunning shade of mustard aaaalllmost green, that I love. I rearranged the guest room a bit and decided to swap this out for another piece, though I do still adore it. It's 19th century, solid pine c.1875.  That means it's available for purchase! I thought I'd go ahead and re-stage and photograph it, mostly because it's pretty and I like photographing it! :-)

Look At My Lacy Drawers!

Hehehe- lacy drawers. So this piece was also custom for a client. She had the smashing idea to do lace stenciled drawer fronts. I'd never done it before, but in the end it was absolutely straight forward and pleasingly effective. The chest is late 19th century pine and mahogany, empire in style. It has great lines- the back legs are turned, and front have great gutsy scrolls. The case is painted in a true gray, distressed, and finished with a dark wax.

Mint Moment

This piece, and the next one I'll show you today, are both commissioned work for a favorite client of mine. She has impeccable taste and snapped up this vanity the moment she saw it in its sad 'before' state. We went with a deliciously saturated mint green, which feels fresh and fun. The drawer pulls are original, but painted cream. I distressed the piece and then finished it with a dark wax.
I must admit, I'm incredibly smitten with it. SO MUCH.

An Antique Walnut Dresser

This dresser was a bit of a hot mess when I got it. It had seen better days and been painted a yucky green. I get it though, a lot can happen to a piece of furniture over one hundred and fifty years, and that's no reason to cast a piece aside. I sanded the top of the dresser to reveal the beautiful walnut underneath, made sure the drawers worked smoothly once more, replaced the drawer pulls, and painted the case in a playful French blue.
