A Vintage Hutch in Coastal Hues
I got this stunning scroll front sideboard at on Wednesday and set about refinishing it straight away. I absolutely love all the curves, the carves legs, and the dramatic brass drawer pulls. I painted the piece in a custom mixed blue called Saybrook Beach, a bit misty, but warm and alluring. The interior is another custom color, named Salted Caramel. I kept the original drawer pulls but recolored them in a bright gold to compliment the gilt cross hatching on the two side windows of the top. I distressed the piece fairly heavily bringing out the lighter shade of aqua I intentionally layered underneath and letting it peek through the richer blue. I finished the piece with a custom dark wax to imitate years of use for a satin smooth but visually deep surface.
