It is bitterly cold here today. Bone chilling with the wind whipping unpleasantness. I won't be doing any sanding outside. In fact, I won't be doing anything outside today if I can help it. Luckily, blogging is an indoor activity, and I took a bunch of new pictures yesterday afternoon when it was much nicer out. I picked this lovely china hutch up off the side of the road in town about a month ago. I had just gotten home from work when my husband hustled me back out the door because he'd seen a big piece of furniture for free, and knew I'd love it. He was right. It's a gorgeous piece with graceful French country inspired lines. I removed the glass panels and replaced them with chicken wire for a fun farmhouse feel. I also removed the lower doors to give the piece a more open look- a pair of baskets or stacked iron stone plates would be so pretty in the lower section. I painted the case in a soft white that I mixed myself for just the right color. The interior is also a custom mixed color, the base started with ASCP's graphite, but you can see its significantly lighter than that.
I styled the hutch in a garden theme as I'm already longing for Spring, and because of a great built cabinet that I saw in Country Living last Spring, that I've been dying to recreate. There's also a kitchen with narrow shelves lined with terra cotta pots that I used as inspiration. I've included both pictures.
I've got a few more projects to show you that I plan to post throughout the day today, so check back in later for more!
