Farm Table Dining Set

As I work on furniture, I have favorites. Some pieces really appeal to me and I'm so tempted to keep them myself. This solid pine dining set is one of those cases. I picked up the set from the original owner about a month ago. Everything was in flawless condition, she'd taken good care of it, and it just needed a new look. I sanded the table, stained in a layered mix of English Chestnut, Red Chestnut, and Dark Walnut to get a nice depth of color and dimension. Then my standard tabletop finish of six coats of poly, sanded between each coat until the table top is smooth as glass. I painted the table base and the chairs a fresh antique white, and recovered the chair cushions. I should also mention these chairs happen to be particularly cushy and comfortable, always a bonus.
Can we talk about the legs of the table? Those are some of the nicest, most bold turned legs I've seen on a table in a while. Before and afters below!

  1. Is it going back to the original owner or will it be for sale?

  3. Wow, what a transformation! I am loving those chairs. We need some for our dining table. We bought a farmhouse table from pottery barn on clearance. Sadly we haven't had any chairs. Not sure if you would be willing to break up the set. Not sure where you are located either.

  6. Hi Jennifer. I believe the table is being picked up shortly. If for whatever reason, they do not end up taking the dining set, I will certainly let you know!

  7. Okay please stay in contact and let me know! I am really wanting a farm table (with the board top similar to this one) about this size - fitting up to 6 chairs. Honestly I'd prefer if the entire table was stained. If you find a similar table I would love to place a special order to have this done. Your work is beautiful!
