A Solid Maple Dining Table

Oh I just love this table. I sigh every time I look at the wood grain. It's just that pretty. I picked this table up last week at the flea market and got right to work on it. It took a full week because it's basically gigantic. I sanded off the old opaque red varnish and refinished in a pale honey to show the spectacular maple to its best advantage. I painted the base in an antique duck egg blue, distressed, and waxed. It's a drop leaf table, so the options are endless. You can drop the leaves to save space, or drop the leaves and add in the two extra 12" center leaves to make a large square table, or of course open the leaves and host a banquet.
