Fifty Shades of Green

I'm so biased it's hardly fair. Green is my favorite color, and has been since I was a little girl. I can't help myself, it's almost an obsession. Green plays so nicely with so many other colors, it's the perfect way to add a little pep to your home and wardrobe in early 2015. Here are some photos to inspire you!

If I ever get a second floor bathtub, I've decided it should be green.

Charming stack of antique china.

There is only one thing on my bucket list- I would give anything ANYTHING to walk the red carpet at the Academy Awards. Every year I pick a dress for this imaginary outing. This is my pick this year. I would rock this so hard.

Woodland hills green on a sideboard from early winter

Oh goodness, just look at this emerald velvet tufted chesterfield armchair!!

Antique bistro chair and vintage watering can, both with wonderfully weathered green paint.

Atomic era sideboard I did late fall 2014

I can't decide which I love more, the floor or the plates. I need both!

Classical mahogany veneer tall chest with bear paw feet. Currently holds the tv in the master bedroom.

Emerald green hat with gold buttons. It's my favorite hat. My mom knitted it for me.

adorable vintage telephone chair I did custom for a lovely client last fall.

And of course, my family room, where I'm currently sitting while typing this, ensconced in green.

Spring 2015 House Tour

Shhhhhh. I know what you're about to tell me. I'm not listening. Nor am I looking out the window to behold the two some odd feet of snow coating everything. I am in denial. Spring denial. You're welcome to join me, there's lots of cut flowers and chilled white wine with raspberries...

Most of these updates have been done since 9am on New Years Day, which is when I traditionally switch out my Christmas stuff for the spring decor. I was just waiting for the last few changes, mostly swapping out the tv console and nightstands in the master bedroom, before I photographed the whole house. There's even more pictures on my House Tour page- which you can visit here.

A Mahogany Sideboard in Pale Green

I've owned this piece for just under a year, actually. We've been using it as our flat screen tv console in the master bedroom, but swapped it for the large empire piece I showed you yesterday. That means this gorgeous vintage mahogany sideboard is now available. It's painted in the palest shade of green- really more of a cream than anything, distressed, glazed, and finished with a dark wax. The top has been sanded, stained, and sealed, and the drawer pulls are original.

A Mid Century Modern Cedar Chest

Every once in a while I will opt not to paint a piece of furniture. I don't like to paint pieces that don't need it, don't require a new look. This mid century modern cedar chest is the perfect example. It's in excellent condition, and the style feels fresh and modern, even though the piece is about 50 years old. I sanded, stained, and resealed the top as it was the only part that didn't look like it was made yesterday. Isn't it handsome!!
