Antique Dresser Turned Kitchen Island
Here's a fun project I just finished. I purchased the antique c.1920 oak dresser at the flea market about a month ago. I removed two of the drawers and used lovely pine boards for the shelves and top. The case is painted in antique white. The overhang can accommodate two bar stools, and there's plenty of storage from the drawers and shelves. Perfect for a small kitchen!

Great re-purpose. Love the green mixing bowl on the bottom shelf. Would fit with my collection.

Thank you Audrey! I think I picked that bowl up last summer at the flea market for $4!
DeleteAs a rule, I usually don't like old dressers with the drawers taken out. They just look empty, sad and broken to me, BUT by remaking the top and matching the shelves to it and leaving the top drawers in place, you've created a whole other thing here! This looks great!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you like it! I only do this treatment when the drawers are unsalvageable, so rest assured that this was the best possible solution for this piece :)
DeleteVery creative. Love it!

How do you get the shelves to stay in the dresser? This is what is preventing from doing these lovely repurposed items because I don't know how to do the shelving. Thanks so much for your help and for sharing the lovely island!
